Machinga ADD on Saturday spoiled FC Surestream’s party when they beat them 1-0 in their final Nsejjere Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier Division match in Liwonde.
It was supposed to be an afternoon of partying for Surestream as they were being officially crowned champions in the presence of Nsejjere’s president Nasar Saraje, but Mussa Mataka somehow put a dent on the special occasion when he struck the lone goal in the seventh minute.
“We have lost because of the pitch, it was too bumpy that we could hardly play our game, nevertheless we are happy that it is all over and we have been crowned champions, it is now time to focus on the Super League,” said Surestream’s technical director Peter Mponda.

Saraje said they were happy to be associated with the development of Malawi football.
“Next year, we are here and even the other year, we’ll be around. The main objective is to develop the game,” he said.
However, Surestream did not get the trophy as the officials said it was not yet ready, but that did not dampen their spirits as they took to the podium to get their K1.5 million prize. Cobbe Barracks got K750 000 as runners-up while third-placed Max Bullets got K500 000.
SRFA chairperson Raphael Humba thanked Nsejjere for coming to the league’s rescue and assured them that the league will be run professionally.
